Garden Centre Associate: Outdoor Operations

We’re looking for an energetic person to work seasonally starting in April 2024. 

​

Core responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring each customer receives exceptional customer service by providing a friendly environment, which includes having an enthusiastic and approachable attitude

  • General labour tasks as required

  • Loading bulk landscape products using a Kubota loader

  • Assisting customers in the materials yard (weighing stone, helping with bulk products, etc)

  • Assisting with receiving product shipments, organizing & stocking shelves

  • Customer carryouts, answering the phone, general housekeeping
     

Qualifications:

  • Excellent endurance and physical strength (can lift 50lbs minimum)​

  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

  • Previous experience using forklifts, farm tractors/loaders etc is an asset

  • A willingness to learn how to operate the above machines if no prior experience

  • Knowledge of gardening and plants is an asset, but not required

Garden Centre Associate: Horticulturist

We're looking for a plant expert who can help keep our plants in great condition and work with customers to deliver friendly service while explaining the features and benefits of garden plants and products.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Providing excellent customer service to all customers who enter the garden centre

  • Plant care - oversee health & maintenance of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, edibles, houseplants

  • Provide professional advice on selection, ordering, planting & maintenance of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, edibles, houseplants, bulbs and seeds

  • Helping customers find requested products or select plants that meet their needs
     

Qualifications:

  • Horticultural certification or equivalent

  • Previous experience working in a garden centre or nursery

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Sales experience is an asset
